Pakistani Cargo Ship Brings Largest Haul of Refined Sugar and Dolomite to Chattogram

The arrival of the Pakistani cargo ship MV Yuan Jiang Fa Zhong at Chattogram port marks another successful shipment from Karachi, enhancing direct trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

On Saturday afternoon, the MV Yuan Jiang Fa Zhong reached Chattogram's outer anchorage, just one day behind its schedule. This is the vessel's second trip from Karachi to Chattogram, bringing an impressive haul of container goods.

This time, the ship carried the largest quantity yet of refined sugar and dolomite. Since direct container shipping between Karachi Port and Chattogram began in November, the trade volume has significantly increased. The latest shipment included 811 containers, with 86% originating from Pakistan.

Key Imports from Pakistan:

  • Refined Sugar: 285 containers carrying 148,200 bags (approximately 7,500 tonnes) brought by companies such as Pran-RFL, Shehzad Food Products, Savoy Ice Cream Factory, and Broadway International.

  • Dolomite: 171 containers destined for Nasir Float Glass and Akij Glass Industries.

  • Soda Ash: 138 containers imported by Nasir Float Glass and other companies.

  • Fabric Rolls: 46 containers for export-oriented garment factories.

  • Potatoes: 18 containers.

  • Sugarcane Molasses: 20 containers by P&P Trading from Joypurhat.

  • Other Products: Scrap iron, resin, and three-piece products.

Imports from the UAE:

  • Food products, dates, lubricating oil, spare parts, and 10 containers of sugar.

With direct shipping, the time to import goods has drastically reduced, now taking just 10 days compared to the longer routes through Sri Lanka or Singapore. This efficiency benefits export-oriented industries by ensuring rapid delivery of raw materials.

Regency Lines Limited, a Karnaphuli Limited affiliate, represents the MV Yuan Jiang Fa Zhong locally. Anis Uddoula, the executive director of Karnaphuli Limited, highlighted that direct shipping enhances the rate of container transport, greatly benefiting the export sector.

Singer Pritom Hasan and TV star Tanzin Tisha are two widely celebrated names in their respective fields. Now, they are coming together for an entire movie—a collaboration that is already creating buzz among fans. The anticipation is so high that audiences are strapping in their seatbelts even before its release!

For quite some time, rumors about Tisha working on a movie had been circulating, but there was no confirmation. Finally, the news is official, making it a significant moment for fans and the industry alike.

The title of the upcoming movie featuring Pritom and Tisha is "Ghumpori" (Sleeping Fairy).

The film tells a fairy tale-like story filled with love and affection. It revolves around the mythical figure of a Sleeping Fairy, known for her ethereal beauty and melodious voice that can put anyone to sleep. When necessary, she descends from her fairyland to the human world, spreading peace and love. Although not a literal fairy tale, the movie is inspired by this kind of magical, love-filled narrative.

The excitement doesn’t end with Pritom and Tisha. Joining them is Parsha Mahjabeen, who went viral during the July-August protests for her song "Cholo Bhule Jai" (Let’s Forget). Her involvement adds another layer of intrigue to the project.

On December 10, the artists and filmmakers officially signed the agreement to make the movie.

Tanzin Tisha shared her thoughts during the signing event:
“If you hear or watch the story, you’ll be mesmerized. I’m confident the audience will love it.”

Interestingly, both the lead actor and the director of the movie share the same name—Pritom! However, they are two different individuals. Actor Pritom commented:

The director, Zahid Pritom, explained that "Ghumpori" is fundamentally a love story but also contains elements of mystery and drama. He plans to start shooting very soon.

It’s worth mentioning that Zahid Pritom, known for his previous works in dramas and web series, has already earned praise for his storytelling skills. This movie marks yet another ambitious venture in his career.
